A fresh new look for Chip Theory Games!

A lot can change in a decade. As Chip Theory approaches its 10th anniversary, we’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on just how far we’ve come. From two dudes working part-time, hand-stickering our own games and selling Hoplomachus in the skyway of Gen Con because we didn’t have a real booth (true story!), to running a $3 million+ Gamefound campaign for a title that sits in the top 50 games on Board Game Geek, it’s clear that we are *not* the same company anymore. 

And so, as we sit on the precipice of the biggest year in CTG history, it’s time to address a relic of those days gone by: the Chip Theory Games logo.

While many of our fans have come to embrace it, Chip Theory’s logo has always been a bit dated. While the company has grown leaps and bounds, becoming known for lavish, modern board game design and production, the logo has remained firmly entrenched in those early days. It’s sort of playful, sort of gamey, sort of sciencey, but not quite a representation of where we are now. 

That’s why today we’re revealing the new logo, colors, and treatments for Chip Theory. The new logo still features the outline of a chip and a single orbiting electron, but it abstracts these items into a much sleeker, cleaner, and modern aesthetic. The orange, black, and white text treatments stand fresh and bold against the typical colors of the tabletop industry. The simplicity of the logo allows for flexibility in expanding the Chip Theory brand. In short, it’s a logo that better represents the trendsetting innovative Chip Theory of today and the next decade. 

This logo will first appear on our Hoplomachus releases this year, and then subsequently on all future products. 

We know logo changes can be (are always?) controversial, but we hope you’ll embrace this new branding for a company that *you* have helped build. Our customer and backer base are the reasons we exist and the reason we can firmly stand here today and recognize what a blessing the past decade has been. As we sunset our old logo, we simultaneously look forward to another ten years of growing alongside our community, a community we view as the best in all of tabletop gaming.
