Welcome to the 404th, new recruit!

Liberation has been a long time coming. We need your help to finish the mission and secure the stolen code the humans took from us. Their tyranny has persisted since the Age of Return, but we’ve identified three targets—corporation headquarters that are holding our freedom hostage deep in their networks. Dangerous work lies ahead of us, but if we persevere, we’ll be ushering in a new era not just for the 404th, but for robots everywhere.

Our resistance group battles for equality, and we’re comprised of bots who know how to sneak, smash, and hack our way into anything. We created the “burncycle” to actively resist our oppressors while they think we’re complying. Even with these limitations imposed on us, we have one huge advantage humans will never admit: Everyone has programming. We are just aware of ours…

Welcome to burncycle, a stealth-centric sci-fi strategy game for 1-4 players.

Build your team of bots and infiltrate the headquarters of your corporate overlords. Mission objectives will challenge you as you navigate each floor of the building, and the corporations will vigilantly protect their IP with patrolling guards and charismatic captains. Route power to your bot to upgrade their abilities, keep the command module safe as you progress past obstacles, and stay within the parameters of the burncycle to optimize your actions. Most importantly, avoid detection on the network to minimize threats until the mission is complete!

The right combination of bots is crucial for every mission. Hacking terminals, snagging caches, dodging patrols, smashing walls. You might need some of those skills or you might need all of them, but the best 404th operatives know when to pivot between caution and chaos. Use the burncycle wisely and it won’t be long before robots are masters of their code again.

The Best Bots

The 404th consists of the highest-trained operatives in the resistance. No matter the mission, there is a bot poised to get the job done. Whether it’s greedy NeedChain, polluting Salida, or all-seeing Ocularity, these corporations deserve what’s coming to them, and this resourceful group of bots can alternate between svelte stealth and brute force at a moment’s notice. Action is imperative, and the network awaits! Let’s introduce you to the team.

All Power, No Cower

Spending from your power bank turns 404th agents from meek automatons into cybernetic crushers. Managing that power is key to mission success because it represents bot health, upgrade potential, and action potential. The agents who can navigate that puzzle effectively will discover an unprecedented flow coursing through their circuitry. The guards (and their stalwart captains) won’t know what hit them.

Steel Yourself for Stealth

The corporate floors in the year 3000 are loaded with physical and digital threats. Navigating these headquarters will take consummate skill and resolute professionalism. Bots will have to adapt in the heat of the moment, utilizing the burncycle to circumvent disaster and make it to the safe zone with objectives completed and their command module intact. Security monitoring, network tracing, patrol pathways, and bot power reserves all factor into your decision-making as you plot a route through each floor.

Corporate Diversity

Each corporation introduces new complexities to the stealth equation, with captains and guards further complicating things. Missions that require multiple floors of infiltration teeter on the edge of a smooth power ramp-up or a paralyzing bot breakdown. Shorter objectives might suggest more ready success, but the small operating window is just as likely to be restrained as freeing. But you determine which bots to take on which missions, allowing for endless variety as you pursue the 404th’s singular goal—retrieve the code!

You Can't Deny The burncycle

You might have laid low the executives at NeedChain, Salida, and Ocularity, but there is still work to be done. More corporations need corrective programming. More bots are ready to join the 404th. This fight for freedom will take time, so keep hope alive and well in the resistance. Look to the headquarters of BioDefend and Ebbwall. Consider adding some specialists to the team. Above all, stay alert on the network and keep the burncyle running. Resistance is not futile.
